The world has changed and so has public relations. Media models are evolving rapidly and the era of direct to consumer and more importantly direct to community, are part of the new reality. Every brand now needs to be part of the conversation, part of the community or social network in which it's customers, influencers and media mix it up. Transparency and authenticity reign supreme, Many to many communication is the norm. We still reach out to media on behalf of our clients, but what once was a pitch is now an ongoing conversation and enhanced value-exchange using tools such as Twitter or blog comments. What is more important than ever, and what hasn't changed is the need for strong positioning and clear messaging that resonates with audiences. The need for a strategic approach, versus a bunch of bright shiny tactics also still reigns supreme. A broad mix of approaches and efforts; from social media and content generation to mobile and search, to interactive and much more need to be carefully orchestrated and integrated.
